Posted November 02, 2018 08:21:36 A trawler belonging to the Australian fishing fleet has been found dead off the coast of China’s Hainan Island, Chinese officials said.

The vessel’s captain was found dead on board and his crew members, aged in their 40s and 50s, were found dead a short time later.
“Our crew members were killed in an accident during their trip,” the coastguard said in a statement.
“They were working with a Chinese fishing vessel, which was on its way from Hainhan to the southern province of Shandong.”
We are also aware of other accidents involving the same Chinese vessel.
“The crew members of this vessel were all part of a group of Australian sailors who had been sailing the waters around the area for many months.”
China has repeatedly said it has no plans to allow foreign vessels to operate in its waters, including the area around the sunken vessel.
